HOW TO START DANCING IN PUBLIC

I find that often people are intimidated to dance because they simply don’t know the dos and don’ts of dancing. And the truth is, if you’re one of those people who avoid dance floor at any cost, there might be a simple solution for you. Here are 3 tips to get you started.

  1. The absolute must is having rhythm. Not a ton of rhythm (don’t worry) but simply knowing what beat to dance on. It might look intimidating but actually people usually dance following 2 basic rhythmic patterns: tempo (“every beat”) or snare (“every other beat”). Distinguishing those 2 rhythms will then dictate the pace for your steps. You can learn more about rhythm HERE
  1. Have 3 ready moves you can rely on. No, they don’t have to be fancy, show off moves. On the contrary – the simpler the better. After all, you don’t want to bring attention to you if you’re just starting out right? Trust me, the precious 2-step will save you in any situation. I made a playlist of some super basic moves you can prepare before venturing out onto the dance floor HERE
  1. Keep in mind that any movement will look better on you if you are confident in what you are doing. And that confidence always shows. People watching you will enjoy the energy you’re putting out there. And it may come as a surprise but looking good on the dance floor is not about knowing hundreds of dance moves but how you’re making them look.

So good luck out there, I believe you can do it.

Ahh and don’t do anything weird with the arms 🙂
